Porto: A Relax Chair That Transcends Boundaries

Frans Schrofer's Award-Winning Design Fuses Comfort, Privacy, and Aesthetic Appeal

Porto's distinctiveness lies in its elliptically shaped headrest, a signature feature that enhances the visual appearance of the occupant while ensuring privy reception of the relaying party. The chair is sculptural and dynamic, with converging angles and curves shaped to embrace the body. Its 360-degree swivel and tilt mechanism, assembled in the base of the seat and upholstered afterwards for a seamless appearance, responds to body movements, adding to the overall comfort and functionality.

The chair is produced using one-mold cold foam technology with a metal frame insert for reinforcement. The swivel and tilt mechanism provides a 360-degree panoramic experience, widening the user's perspective while focusing on the topic. BoConcept offers an extensive array of fabrics and leathers for personal customization, allowing the Porto to blend seamlessly into any interior.

Porto's design addresses the privacy, communication, comfort needs, and style requirements of aesthetically sensitive individuals. It is a personal harbor of warmth, artistic expression, and ultimate privacy, embracing the body from head to toe. The swivel mechanism widens the perspective of the user while focusing on the topic, and the tilt mechanism responds to body movements.

The design of Porto was influenced by the increased demand for relax chairs during the Covid pandemic. As more professionals and students shifted from on-site work locations to home-work mobile locations, the need for furniture that provided both privacy and comfort became paramount. The Porto, with its ergonomic design and auditory shield, offers a solution to these evolving needs.

Porto is a product of Studio Schrofer for BoConcept, located in Denmark. The project was completed and presented to the market in 2021. This design was awarded Silver in A' Furniture Design Award in 2022, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation.
